This Indenture made this first day of April One Thousand Eight Hundred and 
Ninety three between Levi J. RHODES and his wife Anna J. RHODES of the County 
of Jones and State of North Carolina the one part and Cora Elizabeth BANKS, 
Claud McNeil BANKS, and Effie Clara BANKS children of our daughter Laura 
Denise BANKS of the County of Jones and State of North Carolina of the other 
part. Witnesseth that the said Levi J. RHODES and wife Anna J. RHODES and in 
consideration of the love and affection that we have for our said 
Grandchildren Cora Elizabeth BANKS, Claud McNeil BANKS and Effice Clara BANKS 
do hereby give grant bargain and convey tot he said Cora Elizabeth BANKS, 
Claud McNeil BANKS and Effie Clara BANKS their heirs and assigns to be equally 
between our said Grandchildren two certain tracts of parcels of land lying and 
being in the County of Jones and State aforesaid and on the West side of Reedy 
Branch and tract Beginning at the mouth of the Big Branch where it empties 
into Reedy Branch and runs up the various courses of the said Big Branch to 
two Holly trees, then South 9 West thirteen poles to two post Oaks, Benjamin 
ASKEW corner the with said ASKEWS line to the head of Reedy Branch to a stake 
said ASKEWS Corner. The down the various corners of said Reedy Branch to the 
Beginning. The other tract or parcel of land beginning on the run of Reedy 
Branch Benjamin ASKEWS’S corner and runs north 87 West fifty six poles to a 
stake then South 4 West seventy poles to a stake then South 84 East fifty 
three poles to a stake on the sum of Reedy Branch, then down the sum of the 
said Branch tot he Beginning containing — more or less. To have and to hold 
the same with the appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Cora Elizabeth 
BANKS, Claud McNeil BANKDS and Effie Cora BANKS, the said parties of the 
second part their heirs and assigns in fee simple for ever except that the 
said Levi J. RHODES and wife Anna J. RHODES reserve for themselves the right 
to cultivate use or to receive the rents of the above described land during 
their natural life. And the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant 
and agree to warrant and defend the title to the forever aforesaid the said 
parties of the declared —— their executors administrators heirs and assigns 
against the claims of all persons whatsoever, subject only to reservation of 
the lifetime right above mentioned. In testimony where of the said parties of 
the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above 
mentioned.

I Jas. F. WHITE, Clerk of the Superior Court do hereby certify that levi J. 
RHODES and Anna J. RHODES his wife appeared before me this day and 
acknowledged that the execution of the annexed deed of Conveyance and the said 
Anna J. RHODES being y me privately examined, separate and apart from her said 
husband touching her voluntarily execution of the same doth state that she 
signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said 
husband or of any other person that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto 
Let the same, with this certificate be registered.
Witness, my hand and official seal this 1 day of April 1893.
