STROUD of Lenoir Co., NC
3 Dec. 1873

This Indenture made the 3rd day of Decr. A.D. 1873 between Brantley F. 
RHODES & wife Sarah A. RHODES of the Co. of Jones & State of N. Car. of the 
first part & Jno. L. & B. B. STROUD of the Co. of Lenoir & State of N.C. of 
the second part-Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for & in 
consideration of the sum of one hundred & tweet five dollars to them payed 
by the said parties of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged have granted, given, bargained sold & conveyed & do hereby 
give, grant, bargain, sell & convey to the said parties of the second part 
therein heirs & assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying on the Co. 
of Jones & State of N.C. & bounded as follows, Beginning at the run of 
MORRIS? Branch & runs S 60 1/2 poles to a pine then S 16 E 21 poles to a 
dead Pine then S 66 W 70? poles to a dead Pine Stump then N 21 W 68 poles to 
NORRIS? Branch then with said Branch to the Beginning containing Sixty Acres 
to have & to hold the same with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the 
said Jno. S. & B. B. STROUD their heirs & assigns in fee simple forever. And 
the said parties of the first In the Consideration aforesaid do hereby 
warrant & agree to warrant & defend the premises aforesaid to the said 
parties of the second part their Executors, Adm. & assigns agains the claim 
& entry? of any & all persons whatsoever. 
In Testimony where of the said Parties of the first part have hereunto set 
their hands & seals this Day & date first written.

Be it Remembered that on this 5th day of Dec. 1873 before the undesigned 
Judge of Probate for said County personally came Brantley F. RHODES & Sarah 
A. RHODES his wife, the person described in & also signed the foregoing deed 
& acknowledged the due execution thereof by them as their act & deed And 
therefore the said Sarah A. RHODES being by the undersigned personally 
examined separate & apart from her said husband touching her —— consent in 
the execution thereof, doth declare, in —
——————————, that she has executed the same of her —— — & accord & witnessed 
any force fear and ———————— of her said ——————— wherefore ——— & did sell 
voluntary assent thereto therefore Let said deed with this Certificate be 
registered.
