John W. Cox DIED, Dec. 28th, 1863, in Hospital at Washington City, D. C., CORPORAL JOHN W. COX, in the 20th year of his age. He was a native of Jones County, N. C., and son of the late JOHN H. COX, ESQ. His death was caused by wounds received at the battle at Kelly's Ford, Va., on the 7th of November, 1863. The deceased volunteered at the commencement of the war in Company G., 2nd Regiment, N.C. troops. The remembrance of his many private virtues, his deeds of daring, and his self sacrificing and heroic death will live long in the memory of a grateful country. J. W. K.
