Hardy Mallard, in the 71st year of his age. The funeral service will be held from his residence at 12 m. Thursday Nov. 5th, and be conducted by Rev. E. W. Vernon. Mr. Mallard was a useful citizen and a deacon in the Trenton Baptist church. He leaves five married children and numerous grand children. Additional Comments: Known to his family as Grandpa Hardy. His mother was Anna P. (Cox) McKinney. She was a widow with three children. She married John Marion Mallard and he adopted her two youngest children Frances Ann McKinney and William Hardy McKinney. In the records of Jones County Court of Pleas and Quarterly Sessions, September term, 1830, John Marion Mallard petitioned the court to change the name of Anna McKinney's two "orphaned" children to Frances Ann Mallard and William Hardy Mallard, thus adopting them officially. For reasons unknown, he did not adopt her oldest daughter, Mary Jane McKinney, Steven J.
