This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Askew baskew@visi.net ==================================================================== Transcribed from the Original Located in the State Archives, Raleigh, NC By Ben Askew,Jr Will of Benjamin Askey June 18,1811 In the name of God Amen I Benjamin Askey of the state of North Carolina and the county of Jones being weak in body but of perfect sound mind and memory blessed be God for the same do therefore this 18 th day of June in the year of our Lord 1811 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following Vits First my will and desire is that my son John Askey is to have 100 acres of land lying on the north side of Cabin Branch between --------- branch and Poplar Branch be the same more or less. Second. My will and desire is that my son Josiah is to have 100 acres of land lying on the south side of Cabin Branch and joining Masons Branch in ---- the plantation where on I now live also 100 acres lying on the North side of Harrys Branch but my desire is that when ----- my two sons above mentioned takes possession of their lands that they pay unto my son Zadock Askey 100 dollars each and in case of either of their deaths without an heir that in that case the right to descend to Zadock.My desire also is that my son Zadock should have 200 dollars more out of the residue of my property ------- I also give unto my daughter Susannah Askey one cow and one calf,one two year old heifer and one feather bed and furniture and also to my daughters Elizabeth Hawkins and Peggy Tilmon to have one two year old heifer each .And to my son Nathan Askey if ever he should come to have one dollar Item.My desire is that my beloved wife Susannah is to have her choice to live on either of my plantations and to have full priviledge as to wood or timber during her natural life or widowhood. My desire is also that my executors sell one ---- one horse some barrel timber and barrells and that the residue and remaining part of my property be unto my wife during her natural life ------ constitute,appoint and ordain my beloved wife Suzannah Askey and my son John Askey as executators of this my last will and testament .Hereby revoking and defrauding and making -------- all other wills by me here to fore made ratifting --------- to be my last will and testament wher I here unto set ------ Witnesses Lewis Bryant Daniel Simmons
