There may be a page or pages missing.] In the name of god Amen I John B Becton of the County of Jones and State of North Carolina being of Sound and perfect mind and memory blesed be to god do make and ordain this to Be my last will and testament in manner an form following that is to Say 1st I give my Soul to god and as to my worldly affects I Dispose of as follows I loan to my wife Elisy Becton During her life the house and a portion of the plantation Whereon I reside the part of the plantation thus loaned her to include the Lands on the south side of the road and on the north side to a line beginning at the [unreadable] swamp at the [unreadable] at the mouth of a Small Branch and runs with the ditch up the Branch Between too persimmon trees then up the ditch to the woods there a strat line to Isaac Browns Line I also Loan to her During her life as aforesaid Negroe man Norris woman Hannah & Sarah 2nd I give to my Son Jarmon Becton all the lands loaned to my wife after her death to him his heirs and assigs forever. 3rd I give to my Son Ivy Becton a [unreadable] portion [the word "portion" is crossed out] [unreadable] of Lands Beginning at the [unreadable] of the vine swamp and running with the ditch up the scally? Branch to the Back fence thence to ??? rite up a ditch to the corner of the fence a straight line to a Leathwood stump John Loftin [page] ?Amell? E Becton Sallie Loftin Aran E. Becton then with his line to a water oak then with Thomas Rouses line to his corner then up the Swamp with James Joneses line to a cross ditch to the run of the vine Swamp thin up the run to the beginning to him his heirs and assigns forever 4th I give to my Son Levi Becton all the Lands lying between the Bounds of the Land Loand to my wife and Son Ivy Becton to him his heirs and assigns for ever 5th I loan to my Daughter Sally Stanly Negros Anna and Phebe during her life It is my and desire that after the death of Daughter Sally Stanly for Anna and Phebe to be equally divided between all of her Children to them their heirs and assigns forever 6th I give to my Son Bryan B. Becton all the lands that I purchased from my son Thomas Becton and Negroes viz Janny Mory and her child Frank to him his heirs and assigns for ever 7th It is my will and desire that all the Negroes not named in my will shoud remane in common stock for the benefit of Levi Ivy Nancy Penelope Elvy and Jarmon and Elry in Nine Negroes to wit Philas Thom Limos Little Norris Ben Violet Man Little James and Bobb to Be Divided to them as they come of age or marry 8th It is my will and desire that the negroes loand to my wife after her death to be sold and the money equally Divided Between my sevn younest children Additional Comments: O.
