I Arthur Lipsey of the County of Jones & State of North Carolina Being sick in Body but of Perfect mind & memory Thanks be to God, & Calling to mind the Mortallity of my Body & Knowing it is appointed for all men once to die Do make & ordain this my last will & Testament in Manner & form following that is to say Principally & first of all I give & Bequeath my soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it me & my Body to be Burried after a Decent Christian manner nothing doubting but I shall Receive the same again thro' the Mighty Power of God & as Touching Such worldly Goods as it hath pleased God to Bless me with I give & Bequeath the Same in manner & form following -- Imprims I Lend unto my Beloved wife Bathsheba1 Lipsey all my Estate real & personal during her natural life Item. I give & Bequeath unto my son Rasco Lipsey my plantation & all my lands that I may die possessed of, after his mother's death, to him his Heirs & Assigns for ever -- Provided he may live to come to Lawful age. but if not Then in that case I give & Bequeath the same Lands & plantation unto my son Marmaduke Lipsey, after his said mothers Decease, to him & his Heirs & assigns for ever -- I also Give unto my son Rasco, one Gun & one Feather Bed, Bedstead, & furniture to him his Heirs & assigns for ever -- I Give unto my sons, Rickitson, Arthur, Leml & Marmaduke, one Feather Bed & Furniture, to Each of them one, & to Each of their Heirs & assigns for Ever. At the same time Ricketson Lipsey one of the Executors named in the Will Qualified as such agreeable to Law.
