Lenoir County, NC - Nunn Bible Records ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NUNN BIBLE RECORDS STEPHEN AND NANCY MOORE NUNN Bible copied by Sybil Hyatt in July 1941 and found in the Hyatt Collection, Kinston Public Library. Bible owned by Miss Maude Cauley of Lenoir County NOTE: In some cases it is not exactly clear what was actually in the Bible and what information was added. Ms. Hyatt gave Nancy as a Moore but Romulus Armistead Nunn gave her as a Brock. The original records are in the Elizabeth Moore Collection at the NC Archives The Children of Stephen Nunn and Nancy Moore his wife Elizabeth Nunn born 16 January 1796. Died 6 May 1881 being 84 years, 3 months and 3 days of age. Married Thomas Cauley. Mrs. Mary Davis said that Thomas Cauley’s father was Roger Cauley, that he came from Ireland and his wife was named Alcey. The children of Elizabeth Nunn and Thomas Cauley were Stephen, James, John, Thomas, Richard, Francis, Nancy died Nov. 20, 1873, Elizabeth, Mary, Eliza died Aug 6, 1863, Alcey, one that died young. John, James and Thomas served in the CSA. John and James were killed in battle. Wright Nunn born 24 June 1797 – married twice his first wife was Elizabeth Westbrook, his second wife was Nancy Hines. Carney Nunn born 12 January 1800 – died in infancy Holland Nunn born 20 February 1802 – married Elias Fordham of Jones County and moved to Texas Mary Nunn born 16 May 1804 – married Isaac Ellis, lived at the Straits. Their son, Freeman, was born May 8, 1823 James Nunn born 6 January 1806 – married Pearcy Ann Kinsey daughter of Joseph Kinsey and wife Sarah born 10 Jan 1814 Francis Nunn born 19 February 1810 – went to Tenn. married Adelaide Johnson of Tenn. Joseph Henderson Nunn and Mary Rouse, daughter of Alex and Sarah Rouse were married October 9, 1860 Benjamin Franklin Nunn, son of James Nunn and his wife, Pearcy Nunn, was born 17 March 1838 and died the 3rd day of December 1862 Sarah Ann Nunn, daughter of James Nunn and his wife, Pearcy Nunn, was born the 12th of August 1839 Emaline Nunn, daughter of James Nunn and wife Pearcy Nunn, was born 1 of March 1841. Oscar Williams, son of Edward and Emma Williams his wife was born 6th of May 1861 Wm. A. Jones, son of Lewis Jones and Matilda his wife, and Caroline, daughter of James and Pearcy Ann Nunn, were married 17th January 1869. Effie William, daughter of Edward and Emma Williams his wife, was born 29th of October 1852 and died 10 of September 1864 Edward Williams, son of Edward and Emma his wife, was born 11 of May 1864 and died 26th of March 1926. Wm. Bayard Nunn, son of Wm. B. Nunn and India his wife, was born 24 of November 1880 Joseph H., Benjamin F., Jesse I., Henry S. and Stephen K Nunn were in the Confederate Army. Joseph killed at Petersburg, VA. Jesse killed at Staunton, VA. – October 30, 1862 Benjamin wounded in war – said to be dead – 3 Dec. 1862; Henry S. wounded several times. On a separate piece of paper kept in the Bible are the following entries: The Will of Joseph Kinsey, father of Pearcy Ann Nunn, was dated 12th of December 1857 probated April Term, 1858 and registered in Book B. Page 246, Jones County NC. This Joseph was the son of Joseph Kinsey whose will was probated in 1807. By deed dated 16th of December 1729, William Hancock, Jr. Esq., conveyed to Francis Nunn of said precinct and province, a certain plantation lying at Neuse, containing 600 acres, etc. By deed dated 16th of December 1745, Francis Nunn, gentleman, conveyed to John Cox, gentleman, a tract of land beginning at the river side of Neuse River above the fort gut and running, etc. (The old indian fort at Fort Barnwell). Francis Nunn was the father of William Nunn, Bk. 3, p. 119. Henry Swinson Nunn, son of James Nunn and Pearcy Ann Kinsey Nunn, his wife, and Nancy Frances Koonce, daughter of J. C. B. Koonce and Eleanor Fordham Koonce, his wife, were married 2nd of May 1867. Nancy Frances Koonce was born 2nd of January 1842 at home place in Jones County NC and died 3 November 1921. J. C. B.
