WILLIAM F. MCCOY BIBLE

This Bible was found in the papers of Egbert Thomas Rouse, Sr. and the original 
pages will be placed at Joyner Library, East Carolina University.  We thank 
Elizabeth Smith Borum and Mr. Rouse?s family for permission to use this 
information. This McCoy family lived in the Contentnea Neck area of Lenoir County 
but may have come out of Greene County.  

The researcher should be aware that there are two versions of this Bible found in 
Vol 2 of Dobbs County Bible Records by William Murphy and both are slightly 
different from each other and different from this one. There is also a Bible of 
John Franklin McCoy found in this Vol which has different information.  The 
location of these Bibles is not known and we have no scans or actual copies of 
them.  The indication in Murphy?s book was that all of the Bibles were in the 
possession of Egbert T. Rouse?s mother at one time so it is possible this Bible 
is actually one of the above with a little information added that was not found 
in the Bible itself.

Some of the additional information in the other Bibles are:
William F.?s name was Franklin and he was the son of Cullen Coward McCoy and his 
wife Mary ? surname not mentioned.

William F.?s first wife was Julia Ann Oxley
His 2nd wife was Zilphia Phillips daughter of Peter and Margaret Wetherington 
Phillips
