Enrolled in Lenoir County 20 July 1801. 7. 25 February 1802 - Indenture between JESSE KENNEDY of the state of North Carolina and the County of Lenoir on the one part and MAJOR HARDEE of the same on the other part. For the sum of three hundred pounds paid by MAJOR HARDEE assign a certain tract plantation and parcel of land situate lying and being in Lenoir County on the North side of Nuce River in Farmer's Swamp including the Farmer's swamp plantation containing one Hundred and Twenty Five acres being part of a patent granted to JOHN RATCLIFF for two Hundred and fifty acres - together with all houses, outhouses, gardens, orchards ..... WIT WM CROOM, WM HARDEE 8. September 1806 - State of North Carolina - No 308 - for the sum of Fifty Shillings paid by MAJOR HARDEE grant a tract of land containing Nineteen acres being in the County of Lenoir on the North side of Neuse River and on the South side of Tom's pocoson, ADJ TO: WILLIAM CROOMS and AMBROSE JONES' corner and runs with WILLIAM CROOMS's line; WILLIAM WILLIAMS's line. Signed by Nathaniel Alexander, Gov. A survey by JOSEPH LOFTIN is attached along with a platt - 26 July 1806 - by virtue of a Warrent dated the 6th March 1806, I have surveyed for MAJOR HARDEE a tract containing nineteen acres lying in Lenoir County. Description is the same as above. WIT: WMS CROOM, FRANCIS CASWELL 9. no date May 1807 - WILLIAM CROOM of County of Lenoir and State of North Carolina for the sum of Three Hundred dollars paid by MAJOR HARDEE - a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in Lenoir County on the North Side of the Nuce River and adjoining the lands of MAJOR HARDEE , WALTER KENNEDIES - containing thirty acres. WIT Can't read To Court Jan 1808 Enrolled 15th day January 1808 Lenoir County. 10. State of North Carolina, No 251 - Sum of Fifty Shillings paid by MAJOR HARDY grant a tract of land containing Ten acres lying in Lenoir County on the North side of Neuse River including his Farmer swamp plantation, ADJ TO: a tract of land granted to JOSHUA CROOM dec, a piece of land lent to the widow of JOSHUA CROOM, MISS CASWELL's line. Entered the 20th day of April 1801. Signed by Benjamin Williams, Governor State of North Carolina July 30th 1801 - by virtue of Warrent #373 dated the 23 July 1801 - to me directed from FREDERICK JONES, Esq, Entry taker for Lenoir County, entered in his office by MAJOR HARDEE the 20th April 1801. This then gives the description of land as above. WIT WILLIAM HARDY, HENRY WESTBROOK 11. 11 January 1814 - (From MAJOR and NANCY HARDEE Papers) - State of North Carolina, Lenoir County - Received of Mrs. NAYCY HARDY four Hundred Dollars in full for A Negro woman named JAN and her girl childed named RACHEL the title of Negros forever warrant and defend. Enrolled in the Registers Office 15th April 1814 12. 13 January 1816 - This indenture made between ABRAM HARDEE (the son) of the State of North Carolina and the County of Lenoir on the one part and NANCY HARDEE (the mother) on the other part that the said ABRAM HARDEE for the sum of 350 dollars assign to NANCY HARDEE the undivided interest one sixth of lands of my deceased father MAJOR HARDEE; and also the undivided part of my deceased brother CHARLES HARDEE part of the aforesaid lands in Lenoir on the north side of the Nuce River on Farmers Swamp being land on which NANCY HARDEE now lives and bounded as follows; containing one hundred and twenty five acres (above land contained in deed from JESSE KENNEDY to MAJOR HARDEE. Also one other piece of thirty acres contained in a deed from WILLIAM CROOM to MAJOR HARDEE ADJ TO: WALTER KENNEDY line, MAJOR HARDEE's corner. Also one other piece of land contained in a deed from said WILLIAM CROOM to said MAJOR CROOM ADJ TO: WILLIAM CROOM's line. Also my undivided part of the land which is coming to me from the estate of my deceased uncle HARDEE CROOM and also my part of share of my deceased brother CHARLES HARDEE' s share of said HARDEE CROOM's estate. WIT ISAAC HARDEE, JOHN KENNEDY Proved in Lenoir Court April 1816 by JOHN KENNEDY. Enrolled in the Register's office 15 April 1816 13. 16 May 1817 - SIMON ROUSE and JONATHAN ROUSE for the sum of Eleven hundred and fifty dollars to us paid by NANCY HARDEE sold four negroes to wit ANNAKEY ???, SARAH, EVA and ABRAM which said negroes be the said SIMON and JONATHAN ROUSE....defend to said NANCY HARDEE WIT Can't read. To July Court 1817 in Lenoir County. Enrolled in the Register's office of Lenoir County the 15th July 1817. 14. 16 February 1817 - This indenture ..... between MARY HARDY of the State of North Carolina of the one part and NANCY HARDY of the same State and County of the other part for sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by NANCY HARDY .... A certain tract plantation or parcel of land located in the County aforesaid on the North side of Neuse River and in Farmer's Swamp pocoson being the land which fell to me by the death of my Father MAJOR HARDY dec which said land I the said MARY HARDEE do give up freely for the consideration above mentioned unto the said NANCY HARDEE .... HUTCHINS, MOSES WESTBROOK July Court in Lenoir County 1817 Enrolled in the Register's Office of Lenoir Co the 15th July 1817 15. 19 January 1819 - Indenture between SUSAN HILL of the State of North Carolina of the one part and JOHN LINKFIELD HILL of the state and county aforesaid of the other part ...for sum of two hundred Dollars paid by said JOHN L. HILL ......deliver her respective share of the land belonging to her father RICHARD HILL dec (it being the one ninth part of the lands of said dec) Lot # 1 situated lying and being ..... on the North Side of Neuse river and North side of Briery Branch. - containing thirty seven acres which she, the said SUSAN HILL agrees to make good provided there is not the quanity above mentioned. She signed her name SUSANNA HILL WIT THOMAS HILL, LYDIA BARWICK To Lenoir County Court October 1819 Enrolled in Lenoir County Court 18 October 1819 16. 6 April 1819 - Indenture between ABRAHAM HARDEE and wife RACHEL of the State of North Carolina and County of Lenoir of the one part and JOHN LINKFIELD HILL of the State and County aforesaid of the other part ..... for the sum of two hundred dollars paid by the aforesaid JOHN L. HILL a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the North side of Neuse River and adjoining the lands allotted said JOHN L. HILL in a division of the lands of his deceased father, RICHARD HILL. ADJ TO the corner of Lot No 2 on the side of the Briery branch - containing thirty six acres more or less which said tract or parcel of land was set apart to the said RACHEL HARDEE formerly RACHEL HILL as her divident or equivalent share of the lands of her dec father RICHARD HILL.....WIT THOM HILL, SUSAN HILL To Lenoir County Court October term 1819 RACHEL HARDY was examined by JAMES COX, esq. 17. 19 January 1819 - JAMES HARDY of the County of Lenoir and State of North Carolina for sum of four Hundred and fifty dollars paid by NANCY HARDY sell my rights which I have as an heir of MAJOR HARDY dec to all the lands which the said MAJOR HARDY was seized and possessed of in the County aforesaid - a parcel with all woods, ways and waters and water courses and every other appartenance to said NANCY HARDY, her heirs forever. WIT JOHN KENNEDY, JR, JOHN (x) HARDEE To Court January Term 1827 proved by JOHN KENNEDY Enrolled in Lenoir County, 19 January 1827 18. This indenture made this ninth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty one Between ROWLAND MOORE of the County of Lenoar and state aforesaid of the one part and HENRY TULL of the same place of the other part ....for in consideration of the sum of five hundred and seventy five Dollars to him in hand paid by the said HENRY TULL ---sell .... A certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety six acres lying the County aforesaid on the North side of Briery Branch. ADJ TO: RICHARD HILL's, JOSEPH BRUTON's line, a tract of land taken up by JOHN PARROTT, BRIGHT's line to the first station to have and to hold..... WIT C. Graham, F. Moore ( a most elegant signature) ? To court October term 1822 on oath of Federick Moore ? 19. State of No Carolina Lenoir Co - JOHN L. HILL vs The personal estate of RICH.d HILL dec - October Term 1822 - Petition for distribution - Being made to appear to the Court that there was five Negros belonging to the Estate of RICHARD HILL and that there was ten Heirs rendering it impossible to make an equal division it was therefore ordered by the Court that the said JOHN L. HILL be permitted to sell the aforesaid five negroes after giving at least twenty days public notice of Twelve months for the benefit of the Heirs of said decd. Copy from the Minutes. C. HILL and RACHEL HARDY formerly RACHEL HILL wife of ABRAHAM HARDY their respective shares in the lands of RICHARD HILL dec their father --- viz Lot #1 set apart to SUSANNAH HILL beginning at a stake on the side of the Briary --- 37 acres --- Lot #2 to JOHN L. HILL beginning on Briery, lot 3 - 36 acres - Lot #3 to RACHEL HARDY - side of Briary - 36 acres. The remainder of the land the committee deemed it most advisable to remain undivided until the younger heirs come of age 21. 8 August 1826 - Be it known that I NANCY HARDEE THE YOUNGER of the County of Lenoir and State of No Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by NANCY HARDEE THE ELDER .... All my right, title, claim, interest and demand whatsoever which I have as an heir of MAJOR HARDEE, dec to all the land which MAJOR HARDEE was seized and possessed of in the County of Lenoir at the time of his death. To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land with all woods, waters, water courses and every other appurtenance..... WIT ISAAC HARDEE, JOHN (X) HARDEE To court January Term 1827 on the oath of ISAAC HARDEE. Enrolled in the Registers office of Lenoir County the 17th January 1827 22. 18 October 1826 - State of North Carolina, County of Lenoir - Whereas we JOSEPH HARDEE and NANCY HARDEE intending to unite ourselves together by marriage and to secure the property of each of us to our own children and to protect any dispute that might arise between ourselves or our children after we have thought proper to enter into the following Contract each to the other Now therefore that the following contact may be binding on my part, I, JOSEPH HARDEE, do of my own part and for my heirs relinquish to the said Nancy and to disclaim all right to any of her property that would accure to me by our Marriages viz her land, her negroes, her household and kitchen furniture, her stock of all kinds also the crop that is now growing on her lands and all subsequent crops that may grow thereon and it is further agreed and intended that her negroes should remain on her lands and cultivate the same as thought we had never been married and the proceeds thereof after maintaining said negros and stock to be entirely at the disposal of the said NANCY in any manner she may think fit and I NANCY HARDEE do on my part and for my heirs relinquish all right and title to any of the property that would ??? to JOSEPH HARDEE after his death should I be the longest lived viz - all right to dower on his lands, all rights to any of his negroes or any of his property in any shape or any way whatsoever as it is that each of us should enjoy the full benefit of our own property.... HILL .....a certain tract of land containing one hundred and ninety six acres on the North Side of Briery Branch. ADJ TO: RICHARD HILL'S line , JOSEPH BRUTON'S , a tract of land taken up by JOHN PARROTT, BRIGHT'S line .....WIT WILLIAM TULL, LEVI HILL To Court January Term 1832 on oath of WILLIAM TULL Enrolled Lenoir County 19 January 1932 24. 17 March 1835 - This Indenture made between LEMUEL WESTBROOK and MARY his wife of the one part and NANCY HARDEE of the County of Lenoir and State of North Carolina on the other part .....for consideration of the sum of Six hundred dollars paid by said NANCY HARDY ....the following tract of land or plantation situated and being in Contentnea neck on the North side of Neuse River and South side of Contentnea Creek. - containing one hundred and sixty four acres and two roads on the same more or less and known in the division of FREDERICK JONES land as lot No 1. HILL, adm of MARY HILL dec Sixteen Dollars and 11/100 in full - Signed by Wilcox and White. (There is a list of what appears to have been charged to this account and the year looks like 1837, but it could have been 39.
