Lenoir County, NC - Lovit Hines Collection - #2 - Folder #2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LENOIR COUNTY "Record Book, Transcriptions of Lenoir Co. Records 1738-1866, which were rerecorded after the courthouse fires of 1878 & 1880. The call number is CR.059.401.1. Also known as LOVIT HINES COLLECTION - PC 1759.1 Lovit Hines was a large timber owner and most of these deeds appear to have come into his possession as a result of land he purchased. He owned land in Lenoir, Greene, Craven, Jones, Wayne and other counties. This Collection consists of two boxes. Box 1 appears to be mostly Craven, Jones and other counties but scattered through the documents are references to Dobbs, Lenoir and Greene Counties. This box was started but not finished and will be posted at some later date. Box 2 consists mostly of Dobbs and Lenoir Counties. Both boxes are arranged by folders with the name of the Grantee and that is how they are presented. Any Greene County documents have been pulled for the Greene County Archives site and any wills or Bible records have also been pulled and placed under the appropriate heading on the archives site. The Collection is lengthy and has been split into two parts for easier reading by the researcher. My sincere thanks to Ed Morris and the staff of the NC Archives for their continued assistance and support. It was Ed who first made me aware that what those of us in Lenoir County have always referred to as the Lovit Hines Collection found on microfilm is, in fact, NOT the formal Lovit Hines Collection but a book of re-registered deeds.
