Sutton was the son of John Sutton and his wife Elizabeth surname unknown. John A. was the grandson of Benjamin and the great grandson of John, the first of this line in Lenoir County. The first wife of John A. was the daughter of John and Mary (Polly) Edwards according to Ruth Fentress. We have not determined who this John Sutton's parents were. John A. SUTTON - bc 1822 - 1889 Md 1) Rosey A. H. Sutton - 1827 - 1855 2) Sarah C. A. _____ - 1832 - 1912 - a note said they married three months after Rosey died 1862 - enlisted Company C, 66th Regiment NC as a private - worshipped at Wheat Swamp Church There are a number of bills for dry goods, clothing, education etc FUNERAL EXPENSES 12 October 1889 - Bill from J. SUTTON BILLS FOR LIQUOR JOHN appears to have made liquor especially peach and apple brandy - legally as he had a receipt for "Return of Gauger of Brandy from fruit" from the IRS in 1872 DEEDS 1.
