Kinston Steam Laundry A First class and Well- Equipped Enterprise that has met with Quick success. H.H. Grainger, Proprietor The establishment of a Steam Laundry in Kinston, by Mr. H.H. Grainger, the proprietor, was a forward step, established a new industry and conveniences our people. The Laundry is located near the Eagle Warehouse, near the northern limits of the town. The building is 40x80 feet and is very commodiously and conveniently arranged for it s purposes. The building is fitted with the very latest improved American Laundry machinery and is fully equipped to do all kinds of up to date laundry work. The prices are reasonable. While prepared to do all kinds of work, the laundry makes a specialty of collars and cuffs and shirts. The proprietor will give you any kind of finish you prefer, the high gloss, medium gloss, or domestic finish. The laundry began to operate on the 1st of April of this year, 1899, with Mr. M.G. Vick, formerly of Suffolk, Va, a competent and experienced laundryman. The business has met with fairly good success. Up to the present they have been very successful considering that it is a new enterprise here. Everything is done by machinery. A visit to the Laundry will be interesting to those who have never seen one in operation. Mr. H.H. Grainger is the son of Mr. J.W. Grainger, and was born in Greene county. His mother's name was Sallie L. Coward, of Greene County. (--------several lines are cut off.) He is a wide-awake, energetic young man. He possesses first rate business qualifications, and we expect to see him make a good thing out of the Laundry. He was married February 12, 1896 to Miss Sudie M. Parrott. They live on North Queen Street in one of the prettiest residences in Kinston, which they built shortly after their marriage.
