I want to thank Jan Parson for contacting me about this collection & her knowledge of so many people in Lenoir Co., NC & her love for history & genealogy. This collection is the hard work of the late Edna Williams Curl & her late niece Jeanette Williams Corcoran. We would also like to thank Mr. M. R. Williams for preserving the collection and letting us view & copy what we could on our visit. Hopefully this is only the start. This is a work in progress. From the small Book: "WILLIAMS-NOBLE" Line of Colonel John WILLIAMS -1786-1850, Line of Enoch NOBLE -1799-1877. Compiled & Edited by John Enoch WILLIAMS. 1970 Abstracts from this book: The WILLIAMS & NOBLE families were among this who came with the deGraffenrieds and Palatines to NC. Colonel John WILLIAMS settled in the Elam Grove area and had a large plantation there. He was the prime contributor in land for the building of the old Woodington Church. He was a staunch Universalist. Colonel John WILLIAMS'S 1st wife was a TAYLOR (no children), 2nd wife: Nancy COLEMAN, children: twins Benjamin & Betsy. 3rd wife: Nancy Ann Ballard HUMPHREY, children: Caroline, John, Ann, Edward, Lott & James. Enoch NOBLE, b. 2 July 1799 - d. 21 Nov 1877; was the son of John NOBLE & Rachel WILLIAMS. His parents died when he was young & his Uncle Evan WILLIAMS died in New Bern, NC. Enoch NOBLE married Mary "Polly" Brown JARMAN, widow. They had 6 children: Enoch Franck, Mary Elizabeth, John Isaac, Susan Caroline, Jesse Franklin, Martha Levicy NOBLE. Mary "Polly" BROWN was the daughter of Isaac BROWN, Sr. & Mary DEAN. She was 1st married to Furnifold JARMAN in 1835 & had children: Sally, Patrick & Furnifold JARMAN. She then married Enoch NOBLE on 31 Dec. 1844. Note: Enoch NOBLE had a brother Braddock NOBLE who left 3 daughters: Betsy, Zilphia & Penelope NOBLE, that were raised by Enoch & Mary Brown NOBLE, when Braddock moved to AL. Enoch & Polly Brown NOBLE are buried in the old Brown Cemetery near Pleasant Hilll Christian Church. Surnames in this collection: WILLIAMS, NOBLE/NOBLES, HUMPHREY, BROWN, COX, JARMAN, KINSEY, SIMMONS, TAYLOR, COLEMAN, BALLARD to name a few. Both families lived in the Lenoir & Jones Co. areas of North Carolina.
