JOHN ELLIS TO JESSE WATTERS DEED, 1801 [Front side] John Ellis } To } Deed of Sale Jesse Watters } (Acknowledged) This may certify that on remaining the within Deed after it was asigned I find a Mistake made by me in drawing the Deed. In the finish line the corner ought to be South 65 East instead of North 65 East which was the true meaning of the contract as will more fully appear by the other lines and natural bounders. Given by my hand Bryan Whitfield [Inside, left] To all whom these presents shall come Greeting Know Ye That I John Ellis of the County of Lenoir & State of No. Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds current money in hand paid by Jesse Walters of the county & State aforesaid the Receipt thereof I to hereby Acknowledge and therewith satisfied contented and paid and do by these presents Grant Bargain Sell and Alien convey assign set over and confirm unto the said Jesse Watters his heirs and assigns forever in Fee Simple one certain parcel of Land in the county aforesaid on the South side of the Neuse River on a branch of Trotters Creek being part of a Tract of Land Granted to Major Thompson the 2d. day of May 1770 for 300 Acres which part beginneth at the pine the fourth corner of a Said Grant and runs with the pattent line No. 65 Et. 58 pole to a branch thence up the various corners of the branch to a pine near the head thence along a line of an ashed trees to the first line of So. pattent thence with that line No. 65 West 168 pole to the begining from of So. Grant thence along the last line of said Grant No. 25 Et. 220 pole to the last corner of So. Grant and begining of the part intended to be conveyed containing one hundred & fifty Acres with all the improvements [Inside, right] improvements priviledges and advantages thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and to hold to the said Jesse Walters his heirs and Assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and behoof forever, And I the said John Ellis do by these presents covenant to and with the said Jesse Watters That The said premises is now and forever hereafter shall remain free & clear of all former incumbrances of whatever nature or mind soever and that I have full power & lawfull authority to convey the same in manner and form aforesaid, And I the said John Ellis the above bargained promises with the appertenances unto the said Jesse Walters his heirs and assigns will warrant & forever defend against the Lawfull claim or claimes of all and every person or person whatever In witness Whereof I have hereunto set my & fixed my seal this sixth day of January 1801.
