However, the John, Jr. identified in this document is most likely Benjamin’s son, John (b. 1779; d. ca. 1858), which means the Junior suffix is probably misassigned. In 1808, Benjamin’s son, John, would have been a young adult of about 29 years of age, not yet married, with no known children at the time, and was probably still dependent on his father for subsistence. Here we see what appears to be his father, Benjamin, paying his tab.
