                     Insurance Association.

ASSESSMENT NO. 12.

                                    LAGRANGE, N.C., JAN.24, 1903.
DEAR SIR:-- 
     An assessment of one fourth of one per cent is hereby called 
by the above named association to increase the Sinking Fund now on 
hand, your pro rata of which is $3.66. Please pay the above within 
60 days from date, or your insurance will be forfeited, with all 
the claims and privileges thereof. Remit to me by check, P.O. order, 
registered letter, or if more convenient, pay to Mr. J. B. Temple, 
of Kinston. He will receive and receipt for same.

Comments:

Strabane is a small community at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 55 
and Hardy Bridge Road, approximately one mile south of the Neuse 
River and the Bucklesberry community. A U.S. Post Office operated at 
Strabane from 1828 to 1905. It was likely located in the building 
that was last occupied by the New Brothers Grocery Store (demolished), 
formerly owned and operated by the late Braxton and Herdon 'Rock' 
Newman. The store was situated on the northeast corner of the
crossroads.
