BENJAMIN SUTTON, SR. TO WILLIAM CROOM, 1792

On or before the first day of January Next. I promise to pay on 
Cause to be paid unto William Croom his heirs the just sum quantity 
of four thousand five hundred Weight of fat meat Merchanable pork 
It being due for Value Received this 24th day of February 1792

B Suton to Wm Croom

Comments:

The left and right halves of this document, found in Collection as 
separate documents, have been rejoined.

There is a capital letter to the left of Suton on the back side of 
the document. Faint, but the capital letter appears to have a large 
loop in the upper-part of the letter, suggesting the likelihood that 
it is a capital, B. An 1802 receipt in this Collection, also signed 
by William Croom, shows a capital B in Benjamin’s name with a similar 
large loop in the upper-part of the capital B. Therefore, we can 
safely surmise that this is a Benjamin Sutton document, in particular, 
since it is dated in the same year range as other Benjamin Sutton 
documents in the Collection.

Sutton on the back side of document, written as Suton, is misspelled.
