I have not the time to write anymore Only I desire to be remembered to all friends [illegible words scratched out]. [Back side] To Benj Sarah living Dobbs ? END OF DOCUMENT Comments: 'Draughted' was the Briitsh variation of the word, 'drafted' (per www.dictionary.com). Other documents outside this Collection prove Benjamin served in the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) in the Dobbs County Militia as a Private under the command of Captain John Creel and Col. James Glasgow. He was enlisted, however, not drafted as indicated in the letter. See http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/dobbs/military/revwar/rosters/dobmilit.txt Per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nota_bene, NB is a latin abbreviation for nota bene that directs the reader to "note well the matter at hand, i.e., to take notice of or pay special attention." Genealogist and historian, Martha Mewborn Marble is of the view that Sarah’s parents were William and Sarah Sowell Hardy. See http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/HARDY/2001-11/1005767404
