I am as ever a Friend L.E.S. [stamp removed] Mr. Walter Sutton La Grange, N.C. Route 4. END OF DOCUMENT Comments: The initials of the writer/pen pal, L.E.S., is likely Lillie Estelle Sutton. The handwriting style matches that of another postcard in the collection signed by L.E.S., Lillie Estelle Sutton. Lillie was the mother of Estelle Sutton Creech who authored the first Bucklesberry Suttons book in 1973. Carrie Mae Bizzell was a first cousin of Lillie. Carrie's mother was Sarah (Sally) Ann Sutton. Lillie's father was William (Billy) Sutton. Billy and Sally were siblings, and children of Josiah, Sr. and Nancy Hill Sutton.
