Sutton, PhD, sutton@edtesting.com, April 18, 2018. Clellan Sutton Collection, Bucklesberry Community, La Grange, NC. SIMON SUTTON AND BENJAMIN SUTTON TO MOSES WESTBROOK, SR., CA. 1786 January 29, 178[6] Recd of Simon Sutten for Benj Sutten six Hogs wt 82 110 78 Moses Westbrook 80 74 120 --- 544 END OF DOCUMENT Comments: Sutten is a variation of the surname, Sutton. Benjamin did not have a son named, Simon. But Simon is believed to be a brother of Benjamin, and both were sons of John Sutton who migrated to Bucklesberry from Bertie Co. However, Simon is not a proven son of John, per Martha Mewborn Marble. The last digit of the year on the document has been cut away and is unreadable. Another document in the Collection with Simon's name is clearly dated 1786, thus a circa date of 1786 has been assigned to the current document. Moses Westbrook, Jr. was born in 1788 in Dobbs County and died in 1860 in Jefferson, AL. The Moses Westbrook named in this document would have been his father, Moses Westbrook, Sr. who died in 1816, married to Persis Young.
