Davis [back side] Mr. Major Parcks END OF DOCUMENT Comments: This document was retained in the Clellan Sutton Collection as a result of the marriage between Martha (Patsy) Sutton and her first husband, Mugar "Major" Parks. Martha was a daughter of Hardy and Annie Hill Sutton, through which the documents in this Collection were channeled. Major and Martha were the parents of three children, one of whom was Martha Jane Parks Sutton Barwick, which made Martha Jane a granddaughter of Hardy and Annie. Martha Jane first married Alonzo Sutton, son of Jeremiah, Sr. and his first wife, Tabitha Hayes Sutton. Alonzo died prematurely leaving Martha Jane a widow with several young children. Martha Jane later married second husband, John Frank Barwick. Parcks is a variation of the more common surname, Parks. Donass and Dickey may have been black slaves on the Parks farm, given the pre-Civil War date of 1848 of this document. James M. Davis was a local physician, see http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/lenoir/deeds/dbook7b.txt Well within geographic and travel proximity to Bucklesberry, Dr. Davis resided on the South side of the Neuse River, Wayne County, see https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DCY9-Y58?i=196&cc=1401638
