Lenoir County, NC - Cemeteries INTRODUCTION In 1980’s Mrs. Fannie Anderson Isler of Lenoir County did a survey of Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange which is the largest cemetery in the western part of the county. We requested her permission to post this information but she declined. We then posted the partial survey done by Mrs. Helen Bryan Chamberlain Braxton back in the 1930’s. In the spring of 2002 Mrs. Isler, through her daughter, did give her permission to post. Since the list is long and we are dependent on volunteers to retype the information, we decided to leave the Braxton survey and label it Part 1. Pat, Sloan, and Rose had spent their time typing this information and they deserve our thanks. Each new volunteer deleted the entries already posted with the exception of those whose dates did not agree. List member Debbie volunteered to take the disputed entries and visit the cemetery to do another survey. We then posted Part A which has both entries and the new survey. The researcher will have to check both Part 1 and the Part with the section of the alphabet they are researching. This project is the result of the co-operation and work of many people. We are most grateful to Mrs. Isler for permission to post this very important cemetery survey and to her daughter, Penelope, for using her powers of persuasion. To our list members, Christine, Jackie, Debbie, Pat, Johnnie, Donna, and Bill our deep gratitude for taking their time to re-type the survey. A special thanks to Debbie for going to the cemetery to check some of the entries. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
