Lenoir County, NC - Kinston Academy - Act to Establish, 1813 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act to amend the first and second section of an act passed in November, one thousand seven hundred eighty five, entitled "An Act for establishing an Academy at the town of Kinston, in the county of Dobbs, and for other purposes." Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the name of the said Academy be altered from "Dobbs Academy," to that of "Kinston Academy." II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That John R. Donnell, William Blackledge, William Croom, John Gatlin, John Washington, Frederick Jones, Francis Kilpatrick, Bryan Whitfield, jun. James Bright, John Cobb and Vine Allen be appointed Trustees of the said Kinston Academy, with all the powers and authorities vested in the Trustees of Dobbs Academy, by the before recited act. III. And be it further enacted, That as much of the before recited act as comes within the purview and meaning of this act, be and the same is hereby repealed and made void.
