Lenoir County, NC – Nathan G. Blount - Act For Spiral Wheel, 1829 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act to authorise Nathan G. Blount to erect a spiral wheel in Neuse river Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Nathan G. Blount, of the town of Kinston, in the county of Lenoir, be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered to erect a spiral wheel, to be worked by the waters of said river, and to be placed in said river adjoining his own lands near the town of Kinston, to be located at the junction of the high and low lands next below where said Blount resides: Provided, however, that nothing in this act shall be construed to authorise said Nathan G. Blount to obstruct a larger portion of said river than twenty four feet from the bank of the river at low water. Be it further enacted, That the priviledges hereby granted, and the use of the waters for the purposes herein set forth, are hereby vested in the said Nathan G. Blount and his assigns for the term of twenty years, and no longer: Provided always, and be it further enacted, that after the expiration of ten years, it shall be lawful for the General Assembly to repeal this act and vacate the grant hereby made, if, in their judgement, the same should be productive of public inconvenience.
