Lenoir County, NC - Moseley vs Parrott, 1817 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #632 MOSELEY VS PARROTT Supreme Court Case found at the NC Archives William Moseley vs Simon Parrott and Thomas Campbell - 1817 Lenoir County Action of debt to the Oct Court 1816 Lenoir Co - Case regarding a bond executed by Elijah Baker and the two defs with the following words - 12 months after date we jointly promise to pay William Moseley guardian to orphans of Frederick Baker, dec the sum of 62 pds 10 shillings and 6 pence - dated 16 Nov 1812 Signed by Elijah Baker, Thos Campbell, Simon Parrott WIT Joshua Tucker Elijah Johnson Senr gave a Deposition - stated in June 1814 he was at the house of Thomas Campbell with William Moseley and Simon Parrott and hard Moseley state he held a note from Baker with Parrott and Campbell as surities - Parrott asked Moseley to bring suit against Baker or he would Baker's property was exhausted and Moseley refused to do so saying he was about to purchase Baker's land and he was afraid Mr. Washington had an execution on the land and asked Parrott to ask Washington about the matter Later Moseley bought Baker's land and the original note was to go to pay for land - Parrott was not satisfied and wanted to give Moseley his own note and take up the note with Baker before Baker's property was all gone - Moseley assured Parrott the note would never come up. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
