Deed of Sale: John BRIMFIELD to William BROWN-two mares-dated 1870 Know all men by these presents that I, John BRIMFIELD of the State of North Carolina & of Guilford County for and in consideration of the Sum of eighty five dollars to me in hand paid by William BROWN of said State and County of Lenoir at and before the Sealing & delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained sold , released, granted and confirmed and by these presents do bargain sell and release, grant and confirm unto the said William BROWN: Two mares. The one a white mare aged twelve years, the other a grey mare aged seven years branded with an O on the left shoulder. To have and to hold all and singular the said Mares and every of them by these presents bargained, sold, released, granted and confirmed unto the only proper use & behoof of the said William BROWN his Executors, Administrators & Assigns for ever. And I the said John BRIMFIELD for myself my Executors and Administrators all and Singular the said Two Mares unto the said William BROWN his Executor, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said John BRIMFIELD my Executors and administrators or assigns, and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents, I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this 27th day of October 1870.
