day of March 1882.

This indenture made this the 5th day of March in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and sixty one between Argent BROWN of the County of 
Lenoir and State of North Carolina of the one part and Bryant DAVENPORT of 
the County and State aforesaid of the second part, Son of the said Argent 
BROWN Witnesseth, that the said Argent BROWN, for and in consideration of 
the natural love and affection which she has unto the said Bryant DAVENPORT 
has given granted claimed released and confirmed and by these presents does 
give grant claim release and confirm unto the said Bryant DAVENPORT his 
heirs and assigns all that privileges and tenements of land situated in the 
County and State aforesaid and in the north side of the Great branch 
beginning at the run of great branch and runs N13 E74 poles to a pine 
Stephen HERRING'S corner then North 85 E138 poles to a pine another corner 
to said HERRINGS then North 75 East 514? poles to a pine said HERRINGS 
corner then south 10? West 176 pol! es then South --- West 148 poles to a 
pine in the head of the branch then with the various courses to the Branch 
to first Station containing by estimation 171 acres together with the 
privileges and all things appurtenances thereto and all the estate and 
interest of her the said Argent BROWN in and thereto to have and to hold 
the said usages and all the appurtenances thereof to him the said Bryant 
DAVENPORT his heirs and assigns to his and their proper use and behoof 
forever. And agree further to present and defend the right and title of the 
same to him Bryant DAVENPORT his heirs and assigns forever. In witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above 
written:

North Carolina-Lenoir County Court-January Term, 1867.
There was the foregoing Deed of Gift from Argent BROWN to Bryan DAVENPORT,
exhibited in open Court and the execution thereof duly sworn by the oath of
James HERRING one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and intended to be
registered.
