Hill This deed, made this 12th day of June, 1931, by Carrie E. Bruce, of Philadelphia County and State of Pennsylvania, party of the first part, to F. D. Hill, of Lenoir County, and State of North Carolina, party of the second part: WITNESSETH, that said party of the first part, in consideration of $400.00 to her paid by said party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained and sold, and by these presents does grant, bargain, sell and convey unto said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Lenoir County, North Carolina, and more particularly described as follows: Beginning at a stake in Wheat Swamp, it being the southeastern corner of lot #4, allotted to Garfield Gregory, and runs S 74 ˝ (one half) W with the line of Garfield Gregory 1760 ft. to a stake on Hull Road; thence S 51 E with Hull Road 385 ft. to a stake in bend of road; thence S 20 E with the road 210 ft. to a stake, a corner of Garfield Gregory; thence N 85 E 1650 ft. to a stake on Wheat Swamp; thence up and with the various courses of Wheat Swamp to the beginning, containing 24 acres more or less. This being lot #5 in the division of the lands of Henry Gregory, deceased, of record in the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Lenoir County, in book D, Divisions, Dowers and Provisions, at page 11-14. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in anywise thereunto appertaining, unto him, the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, to his only use and behoof in fee simple absolute forever. And the said party of the first part does, for herself and her heirs, executors and administrators, covenant to and with the said party of the second part, his executors, administrators, heirs and assigns, that she is seized of said premises in fee, and has a right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all encumbrances, and that she does forever warrant and will forever defend the title to the same against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof, the said party of the first part has hereunto set her hand and seal, the day and year first above written. Carrie E.
