P 319 – 20 March 1839 – John Davis, High Sheriff by order of the Court 
of Quarter Sessions on the first Mon of July 1838, sd Sheriff commanded 
that the land, goods, chattels be found belonging to David Priest and 
he should cause the sum of $110.65 which Wm. Holland, W. Holland and 
Wilcox and White and Jno. Reardon recovered for debt and damages – also 
the sum of $16.95 for cost – Sheriff took into his possession a certain 
tract of land – SS of Neuse, adj to a patent granted to Caswell, Stumpy 
Meadow adj Robert Wooten, Zack Davis, corner of a patent to John Ervin 
– being 54 acres granted to Major Croom and sold to Joseph R. Croom 
“which remained in his hand at sd term” and transferred from J. R. 
Croom to John Reardon and from Reardon to Priest so he could not have 
the monies – Sheriff directed to sell the land on the 1st Mon of Oct 
1838 and Thomas Cauley was the high bidder at $86
