Order for a Survey for Murphy Dixon North Carolina, No. 143 His Excellency Arthur Dobbs, Esq; Captain-General, governor, and Commander in Chief, in and over the said Province. To the Surveyor-General, Greeting. You are forthwith to admeasure and lay out, or cause to be admeasured and laid out, unto Murphy Dixon a Plantation, containing two hundred Acres of Land, in the county of Dobbs On the Rain Bow Branch joining John Suggs and John Masewells Lines Observing his Majesty's Instructions for running out Lands; two just and fair Plans whereof, with a proper Certificate annexed to each, you are to return into the Secretary's Office, within Twelve Months from the Date hereof: And if the Warrantee shall not within Eighteen Months from the Date hereof, take out a Patant for the said Land, this Warrant, and all Proceedings thereon, shall be void and of no Force; and the said Land shall be deemed vacant and free to be taken up by any other Person. Given at Wilmington unto my Hand, the 10th Day of April Anno Dom 1761. Negle (?), William Hooker his own line Observing the Directions of the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided for running out Lands. Two just and fair Plans of such Survey, with this Warrant, to the Secretary's Office without Delay. Given under my Hand at Kingston the first Day of July Anno Dom. 1770 (?) Then with his other line N 66, W 24 Pole to a Hickory, then with his other line S 45, 74 pole to Keathley's Marsh, then up said Marsh N 50 W 20 pole to a Stake in said Maxwell's line.
