Walter Dunn Sr. died in 1841 and Walter Jr. died in 1850. ------------------------------ Conveyance from Lewis Bryan Esq. to Walter Dunn - Deed, 1821 This indenture made this 13 day of Jan. in the year of our Lord 1821 between Lewis Bryan Esquire Sheriff for the county of Lenoir and successor in office of Lazarus Pearce Sheriff for the county aforesaid on the one part and Walter Dunn Esquire of the same county in the other part: whereas by virtue of sundry executions, fines from the clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for Lenoir county amounting together with the cost thereon to the sum of sixty nine dollars 67 cents which said sum was recovered by John Washington, David Grant, Thomas Hood & John Gatlen against Redden Faulkner as on record of said case may appear; and whereas the said executor was directed & delivered to the said Lazarus Pearce late Sherriff as aforesaid commanding them that of the goods, chattels, lands and tenements of the said Ridden Faulkner he should cause to be made the aforesaid sum of sixty nine dollars 67 cents to satisfy the said executors with the cost thereon, and the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff as aforesaid in pursuance and by virtue of his office and the aforesaid executors seize & take into his hands & custody (no good & chattels to be found) a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the county of Lenoir adjoining Fredrk Bakers, Daniel Powells & others, lands which according to the divisions of William Faulkner dec'd is bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at the first corner of lot No. 2 in said division & runs No. 88 east 100 poles to a pine thence No. 45 west 160 poles to the third corner of lot No. 1 thence along that line to the fourth corner thereof then along the line of lot No. 2 to the beginning containing by estimation thirty three and a third acres more or less. And the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff as aforesaid after due advertisement according to law did cause the said piece or parcel of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to -- put up at public sale to the highest bidder on the 7th day of Jan. 1811 at which time and place the aforesaid Walter Dunn became the last and highest bidder at the sum of seventy two dollars for the said lands with the appurtenances thereunto belonging. This indenture witnesseth that the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff of the county aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of seventy two dollars to him in hand paid by the said Walter Dunn before the sealing and signing of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said Lewis Bryan the successor in office of the said Lazarus Perce doth hereby causing and confirm unto the said Walter Dunn his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever all the aforesaid lands, tenement and appurtenances with all right, title claim or demand or or unto the same. The said Walter Dunn his heirs, assigns &c to have and to hold the said premises hereby sold & conveyed free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever. He the said Lewis Bryan successor &c will for the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff as aforesaid warrant and defend the same to the said Walter Dunn his heirs assigns &c forever so far as his office of Sheriff will admit and no further. Caswell & Winston Andrews State of N. Carolina, Lenoir County, April Court 1821 This was the foregoing deed of sale duly proved in open court by the oath of Winston Andrew & ordered to be registered. Caswell, Regr ------------------------------ Sheriff to Walter Dunn, 1821 Deed of Sale for 33 1/3 acres land This indenture made this 13th day of Jany. in the year of our Lord 1821 between Lewis Bryan Esq. Sheriff for the county of Lenoir and successor in office of Lazarus Perce late Sheriff for the county aforesaid on the one part; and Walter Dunn Esqr. of the same county on the other part. Whereas by virtue of an execution issueing from the Clerk of the Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions for Lenoir County amounting together with the cost thereon to the sum of thirty dollars 88/100 which said sum was recovered by John Washington against Lewis Faulkner as the record of said land my appear. And whereas the said execution was executed and delivered to the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff as aforesaid commanding them that of the goods and chattels lands & tenements of the said Lewis Faulkner he should cause to be made the aforesaid sum of thirty dollars 88/100 to satisfy the said execution with the cost therein; and the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff aforesaid in pursuance & by virtue of his office & the aforesaid execution did seize & take into his hands & custody (no good & chattels to be found) a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the county of Lenoir adjoining Fredrk Baker's, Daniel Powell's & others lands which according to the division of the lands of William Faulkner dec'd is bounded as follows: beginning at a pine near the road, course to strike the third line of said land, course to strike the fourth line of said land, from the fourth corner including the place where Mrs. Faulkner's line at the time of the division of said lands. And the said Lazarus Perce late Sheriff as aforesaid after due advertisements according to law did cause the said piece or parcel of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to be put up at public sale to the highest bidder on the 7th day of Jany. 1811 at the court house in Kinston at which time & place the aforesaid Walter Dunn became the last & highest bidder at the sum of thirty one dollars & 35/100 for the said lands. Caswell Winston Andrews State of No. Carolina - Lenoir County, April Court 1821 Then was the foregoing deed of sale duly proved in open court by the oath of Winston Andrews & ordered to be registered. Caswell, Reg. ------------------------------ Sheriff to Walter Dunn, 1821 Deed for 250 acres land Formerly the property of E. Baker This indenture made this 1st day of July 1821 between Lewis Bryan Esquire Sheriff for the county of Lenoir on the one part and Walter Dunn Esqr. of the same county on the other part: Whereas by virtue of sundry executions issueing from the Clerk of Lenoir County Court being tested? the 1st Monday in Oct. 1814 amounting together with the cost thereon to the sum of one thousand dollars, which said sum was recovered by John Gatlin & others against Elizabeth Baker as on record of said court may appear; and whereas the said executions were directed and delivered to the said Lewis Bryan Sheriff as aforesaid commanding him that of the goods chattels lands & tenements of the said Elijah Baker he should cause to be made the aforesaid sum of one thousand dollars - to satisfy the aforesaid executions with the costs therein and the said Lewis Bryan Sheriff as aforesaid in pursuance and by virtue of his office and the aforesaid executions did seize and take into his hands & custody (no goods & chattels to be found) a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the county of Lenoir on the south side of the Briery Branch & Stonington Creek beginning at a gum on the run of said Briery Branch the dividing corner between said Elijah Baker & the heirs of Frank Baker dec'd, Benja Curtis line. Caswell Walter Dunn Jr. State of North Carolina - Lenoir County, July Term 1823 Then was the foregoing deed of sale duly approved in open court by the grantor & ordered to be registered. Enrolled in the Registers office of Lenoir County the 15th day of July 1823. D. Caswell, Regst. ------------------------------ Lease of Walter Dunn Sr. to Walter Dunn Jr., 1821 Know all men by these presents that I Walter Dunn Senr. of Lenoir County & State of No. Carolina have leased & let unto Walter Dunn Junr. of the same county and state a certain piece of land (called the Redden & Lewis Faulkner lands) for the space of five years for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars per annum to him in hand paid by the said Walter Dunn Junr., and that he the said Walter Dunn Senr. will warrant and defend the title and privileges of the aforesaid premises with all houses buildings and appurtenances there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the same, free and clear of and from all manner of incumberances whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Walter Dunn Senr. has here unto set his hand and seal this 4 day of July 1821. Walter Dunn (Seal) Assign Seal and acknowledge in presence of D. Caswell & Wm. Phillips ------------------------------ Sheriff of Lenoir to Walter Dunn, 1821 Deed for 250 acres of Land The land was formerly the property of Ridden Jones This indenture made this (blank) day (blank) of 1821 between Lewis Bryan Esquire Sheriff for the county of Lenoir on the one part and Walter Dunn Esquire of the same county of the other part; Whereas by virtue execution issuing from the Clerk of the county Court of Lenoir being entered the 1st Monday of (blank) 18 (blank) amounting together with the costs thereon to the sum of (blank) which said sum was recovered by (blank) against Redden Jones as on record of said Court may appear; and whereas the said executions were directed delivered to the said Lewis Bryan Sheriff as aforesaid commanding him that of the goods chattels lands and tenements of the said Redden Jones he should cause to be made the aforesaid sum of (blank) to satisfy the said executors with the costs in persuance and by virtue of his office and the aforesaid executions did seize and take into his hands & custody (no good & chattels to be found) a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid and the Loosin Swamp (it being the lands formerly owned by William Jones short dec'd) & bounded as follows: At a pine near the Loosin Swamp, John Jones corner, another J. Jones corner, Harvey's line, Harvey's corner in Joseph Bruton's line. In witness whereof the said Lewis Bryan has hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written, signed sealed & delivered in presence of (blank) N.B. The words near the Loosin Swamp was interlined before the deed was assigned. Witness (blank) ------------------------------ Walter Dunn's Receipt from Co. Treas. No. 460, 1825 North Carolina Treasury Office 31st OIct. 1825. On the day above written Walter Dunn did pay into this office the sum of two dollars and fifty cents it being in full of the purchase money for 25 acres of land by him entered in the county of Lenoir, as by the Entry Takers Certificate, No. 693, 694 $2.50 John Haywood Treas. by John S. Dunn Note $1,000, 1826 On or before the first day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven we promise to pay Henry Black or order the sum of one thousand dollars value received. Kilpatrick & wife Deed to Walter Dunn, 1826 300 acres of Land This indenture made this twenty eight day of September one thousand eight hundred and twenty six between William and Sally Kill Patrick of the state of N. Carolina and county of Lenoir on the one part and Walter Dunn of the state and county aforesaid in the other part, Witnesseth: In consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars for a tract of land on the north side of Neuse river and on the Briery branch, the division in between said William and Sally Killpatrick and Thomas and Elizabeth Campbell, William Witheringtons second patens line, Dunns own line, to tract of land purchased by said Killpatrick of Rolland Moore, Isaac Barwick's corner, white oak in Beaverdam Branch. Campbell State of North Carolina - Lenoir County, October Term 1826 Then was the foregoing deed of sale duly proved in open court by the oath of Thomas Campbell and ordered to be registered at the same time Sally Killpatrick the other grantor being in Court, the Court ordered that John P. Dunn and Moses Westbrook exprts. be appointed to take her private examination as to her free will in executing said deed of conveyance. D. Caswell C.C.C. Enrolled in the Registers Office Lenoir County the 17th day of October 1826. for Lem. C. Desmond, Regt. D. Caswell, Dty Regt. ------------------------------ Fred Baker to Walter Dunn Deed, 1827 This Indenture made this 29th day of June one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven between Fredrick Baker of the county of Lenoir and state of North Carolina of the one part and Walter Dunn of the county and state aforesaid of the other part - Witnesseth. The said Fredrick Baker for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars do bargain sell and convey unto the said Walter Dunn all the right to the lands which I the said Fredrick Baker purchased of Thomas Campbell in a deed dated the 19th day of May 1823 lying in the aforesaid county and state and on the no. side of the Briery Branch beginning at a stake and runs north 37 west 132 pole to a stake then So. 70 West to Wilie Moselyes corner now Wm. B. Kilpatricks corner thence with his line south 37 east to his corner thence to the beginning for 10 acres be the same more or less which said piece or parcel of land I the said Fredrick Baker do by these presents warrant and defend unto the said Walter Dunn his heirs and assigns against the claims of the persons claiming by from or under me my heirs or assigns in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
