Deed Book 2, page 615 Register of Deeds Office State of North Carolina Lenoir County This Deed, made this the 16th day of November 1881 by Wiley DUPREE & Louisa DUPREE his wife of Lenoir County and State of North Carolina to Scott MCARTHUR of Lenoir County, and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth: That said Wiley DUPREE and Louisa DUPREE in & consideration of Seven Hundred Dollars to them paid by said Scott MCARTHUR the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to the said Scott MCARTHUR and his heirs a tract or parcel of land in Lenoir County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Wilson TILGHMAN and others and others, bounded as follows, Viz: Beginning at a Stake near the path Alexander RASBERRY and Needham MORRIS corner runs S 13 E 50 ¾ poles to a water oak then S 1 W 21 poles to a stake, then S 15 W 66 poles to a pine, Wilson TILGHMAN’S corner, then W 76 E 68 poles to a stake ins aid TILGHMANS line, thence North to Alexander RASBERRY’S line, then with RASBERRYS line to the beginning, containing 50 acres more or less the same being Lot No. 1 in the division of the lands of Frank MOOR? To Have and To Hold, the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Scott MCARTHUR his heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof. And the said Wiley DUPREE and wife warrant? that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same, against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seal the day and year above written. FIELDS, Justice of the Peace, do hereby certify that Wiley DUPREE and Louisa DUPREE his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the within deed of warranty and the said Louisa DUPREE being by me privately examined separate and apart form her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
