Dupree Bk. 68, p. 301 State of North Carolina Lenoir County This Deed, made this 30 day of November 1920, by D. I. SPENCE and wife Ada SPENCE of the first part to W. C. DUPREE of the second part all of the above name parties being of the aforesaid State & County; Witnesseth: That said first parties for —- in consideration of the Sum of One Thousand ($1000.00) dollars & other valuable consideration Dollars to them in hand paid by said second party, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents do hereby bargain, sell and convey & confirm to said Second party and his heirs and assigns & heirs forever in fee simple a certain lot or parcel of land in the City of Kinston, Lenoir County, And are particularly described as follows: Viz: Beginning at a stake on Independent Street, East side 61 1/2 feet from Gordon Street a corner of a lot of F. C. HOOD and runs eastwardly with the line of said lot, 124 feet to Railroad right of way at Dowdy Corner then about South with Boyettes line and parallel with Independent Street 61 1/2 feet to Barbara A. TILGHMAN’S line, then about West with said TILGHMAN’S line about 124 feet to Independent Street, then about North and with Independent Street 61 1/2 feet to the beginning, this lot of land being the same piece or parcel of land conveyed by F. C. WOOD to Donnie WOOD HASKINS wife of Hartford HASKINS same being of record in Registras Office of Lenoir County in Book 29, at page 630, It being the same lot of land conveyed to D. I. SPENCE by A. HASKINS & wife and Sarah J. DUPREE by deed dated Nov. 14, 1919 and of record in Lenoir County in Book 63, page 569, to which said deed reference is hereby made. To Have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all rights and privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said second party his heirs and assigns forever to his others use & behoof. And the said first parties for themselves, their heirs, & legal reference? covenant to and with the said second party his heirs and assigns, legal references that they are seized of said lands in fee, and have good —— a right to convey the same in fee simple that the same are free from all encumbrances except for leasing assessments to be levied? on said lawful which said assessment to the second party assumes & agree to pay off when due, save the first party ——— —— and that they do hereby warrant and will forever defend the said title, to the same by this deed against the lawful claims of all people whomsoever. In testimony whereof, the said first parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. D. I. SPENCE and Ada SPENCE, his wife and acknowledged the due execution of the foregoing Deed of Conveyance; and the said Ada SPENCE wife aforesaid being my me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
