PARROTT of Washington City, DC, W. J. PEARCE & wife Mary E. PEARCE of Lenoir Co., NC & L. B. BAILEY & wife Violet BAILEY of Cabarrus Co., NC to James E. DUPREE of Lenoir Co., NC This Indenture made the 6th day of December 1899 by and between Richard L. PARROTT of Washington City, DC, W. J. PEARCE and wife Mary E. PEARCE of Lenoir County and State and L.B. BAILEY and wife Violet BAILEY of Cabarrus County, State of North Carolina and herein after called the parties of the first part and James E. DUPREE of Lenoir County and of North Carolina party of the second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for in in consideration of Five Hundred dollars to them paid by James E. DUPREE the receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell and convey to the said James E. DUPREE and his heirs and assigns a certain lot or parcel of land situated in the Town of Kinston, Lenoir County & State of North Carolina and bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake on the East side of Independent Street at O. W. PARROTS corner and runs with his line about East to John ABBOTTS line then about South with said Abbots line 100 feet to Gordon Street thence along the edge of Gordon Street about West 46 feet thence on North West direction and parallel with the A and - C.? Railroad 85 feet to Independent Street, thence about North along the Edge of said Street 30 feet to the beginning to have and to hold the above described premises and the rights privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging on in any way a pertaining to him the said James E. DUPREE and his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever. And the said parties of the first part their heirs executors and administrators covenant and agree to and with the said James E. DUPREE and his heirs and assigns. That they are the owners of the above described premises and are seized thereof in fee and that a good and legal right to convey the same in fee simple That the said James E. DUPREE and his heirs and assigns shall quietly possess and enjoy the same. That the same are free and clear from all encumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the title to the same against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. COOK, Clerk of Superior Court of said County personally appeared Richard L . PARROTS, J. B. BAILEY and wife Violet BAILEY there of the grantors named in the foregoing deed and acknowledged the execution thereof by them as their act and deed, and therefor the said violet BAILEY being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her free consent to the execution to the said deed she on such separate examination declared that she executed the same freely and voluntarily of her own will and record and without any force fear or under influence of her said husband, or any other person and doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
