F, p. 184-185 Daniel GLISSON, Sheriff to Henry GOODMAN, both of Lenoir Co., NC-Bill of Sale of William HUBBARD of Negro WILL, both of Duplin Co., NC 3 May 1793 Whereas by virtue of an Execution issuing from the County Court of Lenoir against William HUBBARD for the Sum of Thirty five pounds which Said Sum was recovered by Henry GOODMAN of the said William HUBBARD as on Record may appear and whereas the Execution was directed & delivered to the Sheriff of the County of Duplin Commanding him that of the goods & chattels, lands & tenements of the said William HUBBARD he should cause to be made the aforesaid sum of Thirty five pounds to satisfy the said Execution with the costs thereon and the said Daniel GLISSON, Sheriff as aforesaid levied the execution on a certain Negro fellow named WILL the property of said William HUBBARD and the said Sheriff after due advertisement according to Law did cause the said Negro to be put up at public sale to the highest bidder on the third day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & Ninety Three, at which time & place the aforesaid Henry GOODMAN became the last & highest bidder at the price of forty two pounds for the said Negro therefore be it known that the said Daniel GLISSON, Sheriff as aforesaid and consideration of said Sum of Fifty two pounds bargain sell assign & convey unto the said Henry GOODMAN all the right & title of the said William HUBBARD in & to said Negro in as full and ample manner as he the said Sheriff in by virtue of his said Office unpowered and the said Daniel GLISSON, Sheriff aforesaid doth hereby covenant to & with the said Henry GOODMAN his Exrs. Adm.’s, Assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said Dan’l. GLISSON, Sheriff as aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and Seal this Seventeenth day of July Anno Domini 1793.
