P, p. 388-389 Daniel HINES of Lenoir Co., to Lewis HERRING of Duplin Co., NC - 613 Acres 6 Aug 1806 This Indenture made this Sixth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred & Six Between Daniel HINES of the State of N. Carolina & County of Lenoir of the one part & Lewis HERRING of the State aforesaid & County of Duplin of the other part, Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Sum of Six Hundred pounds Specie, money to me Daniel HINES in hand paid by Lewis HERRING before the Ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt thereof I, acknowledge myself to be satisfied & paid every part & parcel thereof therefore have Given, Granted, Bargained, Sold & Conveyed & by these presents do fully, truly & absolutely Convey & Confirm unto Lewis HERRING his heirs Exrs. Administrators & assigns forever, a Certain Tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin & State aforesaid on this N side of Goshen Swamp & in the lower field of Buck & Holly Spring, beginning at a pine & Turns S 85 - 120 poles to a pine, thence N 5 E 220 to a pine, thence down the lower side of said branch to the beginning Containing 613 acres be it more or less taken up & patented by Daniel HINES —— tract or parcel situated —— aforesaid County on the East side of the N E joining the above mentioned land on the branch of Buck Swamp, beginning at a pine & turns thence N 85 W 60 poles to a pine the corner of the other Survey, thence along his other line N 5 E to Jones’s branch, thence up the branch to the back line; thence a direct line to the beginning, containing Two hundred Acres be it more or less, it being part of 250 acres. Also another Survey beginning at a pine on the other line in the said Jones’s branch, & runs S 68 E 160 poles to a Jack, thence S 22 W 274 poles to a pine by WESTBROOK’S old House, thence W 160 poles to a pine on his own line thence with his line to the beginning Containing 300 acres -also one other Tract Surveyed by Wm. ALBERSON, beginning at a pine S edge of the branch, thence up the branch HINES line a Course about S 70 E 120 poles to a pine his Corner Gum bush on Lewis HINE’S line, thence as his line W 104 poles to a Blackjack his Corner, thence to the first station, containing 50 Acres be the Same more or less, Containing in the whole 613 acres be the same more or less with all their profits, advantages, encumbrances & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said bargained premises & further the said Daniel HINES do Covenant & agree to & with the said Lewis HERRING that he the sd. Daniel HINES will at all times hereafter, & forever defend the said bargained premises unto the said Lewis HERRING his heirs & assigns from him the said Daniel HINES hath hereunto set his hand & Seal the day & year above witnessed.
