HOOTEN of Lenoir Co., NC 10 Feb. 1886 State of North Carolina Lenoir County This Deed made this 10 day of February 1886 by Council HOOTEN of Lenoir County and State of NC of the first part and Jno. C. HOOTEN of Lenoir County and state of North Carolina of the second part, Witnesseth that said Council HOOTEN in consideration of ten dollars to him paid by John C. HOOTEN the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sol and by these presents does bargain sell and convey to said John C. HOOTEN and his heirs and assigns a certain tract of land in Lenoir County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Fred JONES and his own, bounded as follows, viz; Lying on the North side of the public, and beginning where Council HOOTEN and Fred JONES lines crosses the public road and running west with the road seventy yes then N 70 yards so as to form an acre square. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto, belonging to the said John C. HOOTEN his heirs and assigns forever to his only use and behoof forever. And the said Council HOOTEN covenants to and with the said John C. HOOTEN his heirs and assigns that they are seized of said premises in fee and have a right to convey the same in fee simple that the same one free and clear from all encumbrances and that he will warrant and defend the title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Council HOOTEN has hereunto set his hand & seal day & date first above written. Council (his X mark) HOOTEN (seal) North Carolina Lenoir County The execution of the foregoing instrument was this day acknowledged before me by Council HOOTEN the grantor, for the purposes therein expressed. PRICE, JP of Lenoir County is adjudged to be correct and sufficient. Let the instrument with the certificate be registered. Witness my hand this 2 day of July 1890. E.
