INDENTURE – John Stephens to James M. Metts – 1837

Found in NC Supreme Court Case #2542

Indenture – 7 Oct 1837 – John Stephens of the first part, James E. Metts of 
the 2nd part and J. and J. C. Washington by J. C. Washington the surviving 
partner – sd Stephens indebted to sd J. and J. C. Washington for $820.08 on 
several notes – some payable to the Washingtons, two payable to Edmond B. 
Bettemy dated 8 Aug 1831 – secured by personal property and crops
