Mason File: POWELL 1682-3 (MORGAN/POWELL/STEVENSON/RICHARDSON/ARNOLD/HERITAGE) This Indenture made & executed the thirteenth of January one thousand eight hundred twenty eight; between Levi POWELL of the State of North Carolina & County of Lenoir of the one part, & Pearcey MORGAN of the same State & County of Craven of the other part. Witnesseth that I Levi POWELL for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty three dollars and eighty four cents to me in hand paid by Pearcey MORGAN before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt hereof is hereby acknowledged have given, granted, bargained & sold and by these present do give, grant bargain & sell a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Craven and State aforesaid unto Pearcy MORGAN ----- and bounded as follows on the south side of Neuse river and on each side of Dover road adjoining the lands of Andrew H. RICHARDSON, sold by Silas L.? STEVENSON to said RICHARDSON it being part of the land called the PHILLIPS land where Jesse MORGAN now lives. To have and to hold the said bargained premises unto the said Pearcy MORGAN to her, her heirs & assigns for and during my natural life time-and I Levi POWELL do covenant & agree to and with the said Pearcey MORGAN her heirs, executors, administrators & assigns to warrant and defend the said bargained premises all my right title claim & interest unto said land for & during my natural lifetime unto her the said Pearcey MORGAN free and clear from all incumbencies whatsoever claiming in with by or through me. In testimony I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year first written. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of Wm. M HERITAGE Absalom (X) ARNOLD His mark Levi (X) POWELL His mark Craven County Court-August Term A.D. 1832. There was the execution of the foregoing deed proved in open Court and in due form of law by these -------witnesses.
