DUPREE & wife Margaret Virginia DUPREE to Ada SPENCE 23 July 1923 State or North Carolina Lenoir County This Deed, made this 23 day of July 1923, by W. C. DUPREE and wife Margaret Virginia DUPREE party of the first part and Ada SPENCE party of the second part all of the above named parties bing of the State and County aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth: That said first parties for and in consideration of the sum of Two Thousand ($2000) dollars & for other good & valuable consideration, Dollars to their receipt paid by said second party, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey, confirm to said second party and her heirs and assigns & legal representative forever in fee simple following described parcel, lot of land situated in the City of Kinston, Lenoir County, State of North Carolina and more particularly described as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake, on East side of Independent Street, 61 1/2 feet from Gordon Street, a corner of lot of F. C. WOOD, & runs eastwardly with the line of said lot 124 feet to Railroad right of way at Boyettes Corner, then about South with Boyettes line and parallel with Independent Street, 61 1/2 feet to Barbara A. TILGHMANS line then about West with said TILGHMANS line about 124 feet to Independent Street, then about North with Independent Street 61 1/2 feet to the beginning and being the same parcel of land conveyed by F. C. WOOD to Donnie WOOD HASKINS, wife of Hartford HASKINS by deed of record in Lenoir County in Book 29, page 630 and being same lot of land conveyed to D. I. SPENCE by A. HASKINS and wife and Sarah J. DUPREE by deed dated November 1st, 1919 & of record at the office of this Register of Deeds from Lenoir County in Book 63, page 569, to which said deeds reference is here made. It is expressly intended by said first parties hereto that this conveyance is a deed of bargain and sale and is not an advancement to their daughter Ada SPENCE. To have and to hold above conveyed lands and premises together with all rights privileges appurtenances thereto in anywise appertaining & belonging to her the said second part her heirs and assigns, & legal representatives in fee simple forever to her & to their only use & behoof. And the said first parties for themselves their heirs & legal representatives covenant to and with the said second party her heirs and assigns & legal representative that they are seized of said premises in fee, and have a — lawful right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all encumbrances except —— having assessments to be levied against said property for — improvements which said assessments the second party ————— payoff when I have cause then and that otherwise they will warrant and forever defend the said title to — the same by their situation against the claims of all persons whomsoever. DUPREE and wife Margaret Virginia DUPREE, granters above named personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance, and the said Margaret Virginia DUPREE, wife as aforesaid voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
