This Deed Made the 20th day of February 1942 by Mrs. Hattie WADE and husband 
Thurber WADE of Lenoir County and State of North Carolina parties of the first 
part to Marvin SPENCE of Lenoir County and State of North Carolina party of the 
second part; Witnesseth, That the parties of the first part in consideration of 
Ten Dollars and other good and valuable considerations to them paid by the said 
party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged bargained 
and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey to the party of 
the second part and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land in Lenoir County, 
State of North Carolina and more particularly described as follows: 
Beginning at the inter section of the Central Highway with the North west corner 
of the property of Mrs. Ada SPENCE and runs South 9 degrees East to the 
intersection of a ditch with the property line of Mrs. Ada SPENCE; thence with 
the center of said ditch, northwestwardly to a point at which the said ditch 
crosses the Central Highway; thence with the said Highway to the point of 
beginning, being all of the property owned by the said parties of the first part 
between the center of said ditch and the land of Mrs. Ada SPENCE. 
To have and to Hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land to the said party of 
the second part and his heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof forever. 
And the said parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs, executors, 
administrators, covenant with the said second party and his heirs and assigns 
that they are seized of said premises is fee, and he has right to convey them in 
fee simple, and that the same are free and clear from all encumbrances, and that 
they do hereby forever warrant and will forever defend the said title to the same 
against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof, the said 
Hattie WADE and husband, Thurber WADE, hereunto set their hands and seals, the 
day and year first above written.

I, Clell L. ROCHELLE, Notary Public, do hereby certify that hattie WADE and 
husband Thurber WADE, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the 
due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance, and the said Hattie WADE her 
voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and 
voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person.
