Transcribed by Sloan Mason Deed of Sale from Thos. W. HART to Joshua H. BELL-1860 This Indenture maid the 5th day of May in year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & sixty Between Thos. W. HART of the one part and Joshua BELL of the other Wittness that the said T hos. W. HART for and in consideration of the sum of sixty two dollars & fifty cents to him in hand paid hath this day bargained sold & conveyed unto the said Joshua BELL his heirs & assigns A certain place or tract of land lying & being in the county of Lenoir & state of North Carolina and being near Lenoir Institute and bounded as follows viz: Beginning at Dr. Charles T. SMITH southwest corner & runs south 70 west 86 yards to a corner in A new street thence north 19 1/2 west or nearly so a long the said street 130 yards to another street leading from VENTERS & BROTHERS store then north 70 east 85 yards to Dr. Charles F. SMITH line then with his line south 19 1/2 west to the beginning containing by estimation two acres more or lest Together withal ways improvements & privledges to have and to hold to him the said Joshua BELL his heirs and assigns and the said Thos. W. HART for himself his heirs & assigns doth warrant and defend the right & title of the said piece or parcel of land against all lawful claim or claims of all persons whatsoever the said Joshua BELL his heirs and assigns for ever in testimony I hearunto set my hand and seal Thos. W. HART Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of W. B. REID North Carolina Lenoir Co. Court, January Term 1867 Then was the foregoing deed of bargain and sale from Thomas W. HART to Joshua H.
