Transcribed by Sloan Mason L BRANNON to F.A. BROTHERS-1860 This Indenture made the twenty first day of July A.D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty between L. BRANNON of the first part and F. A. BROTHERS of the second part, all of the State of North Carolina and the county of Lenoir. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to him paid in hand the receipt whereof is duly acknowledged; hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant and convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid at Lenoir Institute, and adjoining the land of F. A. BROTHERS beginning at a stake VENTERS corner in a ditch thence south 22 East 21 poles and 8 links to a stake in said ditch at the cross? Ditch, thence in said cross ditch north 66 1/2 east, thirty two poles to a stake on the public road, thence north 19 1/2 west, 16 poles and 20 links to VENTER'S corner on the public road, thence to the beginning, containing 3 1/2 acres more or less together with all the appurtenances tenements and privileges Thereunto belonging and the said party of the first part doth hereby covenant and agree with the said party of the second part to defend the right and title of the above mentioned land in the quiet and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever.
