Transcribed by Sloan Mason J. T. WINFIELD TO WM. B. REID-1863 (Enrolled #18 circled) This Indenture made this 1st day Jan. A.D. 1863 Between J. T. WINFIELD of Lenoir County State of North Carolina of the first part and W. B. REID of the same state and County of the second part witnesseth that the said J. T. WINFIELD for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and seventy dollars to him in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby admitted hath bargained, sold and conveyed unto the said W. B. REID his heirs and assigns a certain house and lot at Lenoir Institute in said County and State, Bounded on the South by S. B. DOZIERS west by A. WILSON'S line North by Luther BABBITS and East by a lot belonging to Joshua H. BELL, containing two acres said House and Lot with the appertenances thereunto belonging to him the sd. party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever, and the said party of the 1st part doth hereby warrant and defend the right and title of the said Lot and appertenances for himself his heirs and assigns unto the said party of the 2nd part his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of all other persons. IN Testimony whereof the said party of the 1st part doth hereunto set his hand and seal dated as above, signed, sealed and delivered in presence of: J. T. WINFIELD J. M PATRICK J. B. WEBB North Carolina Lenoir County Jany 21st 1864 Then was the deed and legal execution of the forgoing deed proved before me in due form of Law by the Oath of J. B.
