Transcribed by Sloan Mason JOSIAH H. BELL TO WM. B. REID-1863 ENROLLED 24 (circled) (F. A. Bros. Store, written at a later time) State of North Carolina Lenoir County This Indenture made and entered into on the 11th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & sixty three between Joshua H. BELL of the first part and W. B. REID of the second part witnesseth that the said Joshua H. BELL for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained sold and conveighed unto the said W. B. REID his heirs and assigns a certain piece or tract of land lying and being in the county of Lenoir & State of North Carolina at Lenoir Institute bounded as follows viz: Beginning at the south west corner of the lot belonging to Wm. M. WALSH and running south 70 west 86 yards to W. B. REID'S line thence north 19 1/2 west or nearly S 130 yards to a street leading from F. A. BROTHER'S store thence north 70 east 85 yards to Wm. M. WALSH'S line then with his line south 19 1/2 west to the beginning containing by estimation two acres more or less together with the improvements priviliges & appertanances thereon to have and to hold to him, the said W. B. REID, his heirs and assigns and the said Joshua H. BELL for himself his heirs and assigns doth warrant and defend the right and title of the said piece or parcel of land against all lawful claim or claims of any person whatsoever to the said W. B. REID his heirs and assigns forever in testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above mentioned. Joshua H. BELL Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of Witness: G. T.
