BROTHERS & WIFE TO JOSEPH WARREN BROTHERS-1872 This Indenture made this the eighth day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventy two by and between F. A. BROTHERS and wife Charlotte T. BROTHERS, of the county of Wayne and State of North Carolina of the first part and Jos. W. BROTHERS of the county of Lenoir and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty nine dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained sold and conveyed and do hereby give, grant, bargain sell and convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and assignes, a certain piece or parcel of land situated in the village of Lenoir Institute in Lenoir County and state of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Jos. W. BROTHERS and others bounded as follows, on the East by the public road on the south and west by the lands of Jos. W. BROTHERS and on the north by a lane claimed by S. T. HARDY, contains three acres more or less to have and to hold the said granted land with all the buildings, improvements and appertainences thereunto belonging unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever and said parties of the first part for themselves their heirs executors and administrators covenant and agrees to and with said party of the second part his heirs that there will forever warrant and defend said premises hereby convey to the said party of the second part and his heirs against the claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever and they do further covenant that the said F. A. BROTHERS and wife Charlotte BROTHERS are seized of the premises in fee simple and have power to make and convey such an estate by this indenture and have done the same by them presents entestimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hand and seal on the day and year above written. BROTHERS Signed, and sealed this the 9th day of March 1872 Witness by: (unable to read) State of North Carolina Wayne County Probate Court Be it remembered, That on this 9th day of March A.D. 1872 before the undersigned, Judge of Probate for said County personally came F. A. BROTHERS and Charlotte T. BROTHERS, his wife, the persons described in, and who signed the foregoing deed, and acknowledged the due execution thereof by them as their act and deed. And, thereupon, the said Charlotte T. BROTHERS being by the undersigned privately examined separate and apart from her husband, touching her free consent in the execution thereof, does declare that she executed said deed freely of her own free will and accord, without force, fear, or other undue influence of her said husband, or of any other person and does still voluntarily assent thereto. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and official seal at office in Goldsboro the day and date first above written: George Jno.
