Transcribed by Sloan Mason W. George BRINSON, adm. Of George W. VENTERS, dec'd.-to F.A. BROTHERS-1872 An Indenture made the twenty seventh day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and seventy two between W. George BRINSON administrator de bonis non of George W. VENTERS deceased, of the County of Craven state of North Carolina, of the first part and F. A. BROTHERS of the County of Wayne and State aforesaid of the second part. Whereas Samuel WHITEHURST administrator of George W. VENTERS filed his petition in the Superior Court of Craven County on the 2nd day of July 1869 to sell the real Estate hereafter described and on the 22nd day of December 1869 it was ordered by the Clerk of said Court and on the 23rd day of January 1870 approved by the Judge of said Court that the said real Estate be sold by said Samuel WHITEHURST administrator at the Court house door in Newbern on Monday the 2nd day of May 1870. And whereas the said Samuel WHITEHURST administrator did at the time and place above mentioned in issuance of said judgement of sale, proceed to sell said real Estate, when and where F. A. BROTHERS, became the purchaser, being the last and highest bidder at the price of one hundred and eighty five dollars, and on the 18th day of October 1870, it was ordered that said sale be in all respects confirmed; and whereas after the death of said Samuel WHITEHURST and the appointment of said W. George BRINSON as administrator de bonis non of the Estate of said George W. VENTERS, it was ordered by the Court that the said W. George BRINSON collect the purchase money for said tract of land and make title to the purchaser F. A. BROTHERS. Now Therefore This Indenture Witnesseth that the said party of the first part in consideration of the premises and the sum of one hundred and eighty nine 02/100 dollars paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is acknowledged doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part a certain lot a parcel of land situate in Lenoir County at Lenoir Institute, bounded on the east by the public road on the south and west by J. W. BROTHERS, and on the north by a lane claimed by S. P. HARDY containing three acres more or less. To have and To Hold the aforesaid granted land with all the buildings, improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns In Testimony whereof the said party of the first part doth hereunto set his hand and sealt he day and year first above written. Jan. 2, 1874 Then was the due and legal execution of the foregoing deed, proven before me by the Oath and Examination of F. C. ROBERTS a subscribing witness thereto. Let said deed, with this certificate be registered. J. E. WEST, Probate Judge Lenoir County In the Probate Court It having been duly certified to the undersigned, Probate Judge of said County, by J. E. WEST, Probate Judge of Craven County, under his official seal, that the execution of the foregoing deed has been duly proved before him.
