Edmundson to Willis Pipkin, 1841 ~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina Lenoir County This indenture made & issued the 27th day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty one between Willis Pipkin of the same state and county aforesaid on the one part and William B. Edmundson and Julia Ann Edmundson his wife of the same State and County of Wayne of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Willis Pipkin we have bargained sold and delivered & by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs, & assigns forever one ___ lain tract or parcel of land situated & lying in the County of Duplin on both sides of Poley Bridge Branch, beginning at a Gum & Poplar running S 78 W 112 poles thence S 54 poles thence S 34 W 46 poles to a pine thence W 30 W 16 poles to a stake thence West 12 poles to a pine thence N 5 E 175 poles to a stake thence N 90 poles to a pine, thence South 49 poles to a stake thence S 72 E 136 poles to a Poplar thence a dued? line & to the beginning containing 396 acres be the same more or less to have and to hold unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs & assigns forever & we the said William B. Edmundson & Julia Ann Edmundson, his wife do warrant forever defend the title of said land to be free and clear from all & every person or persons unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs & assigns forever In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals. Bailey, one of the Judges of the Superior Courts of Law & Equity; for the state aforesaid William B. Edmundson, Julia A. Edmundson his wife the grantors to the foregoing deed & in the presence of the other acknowledge the due execution of the same for the purpose therein set forth & contained & at the same time & place the sd Julia A. Edmundson on being by me first privately examined separate & apart from her said husband declared that she executed the same freely voluntarily & of her own accord without any fear coercion compulsion of her said husband & now assents to the same - Set the said deed with this certificate to be registered according to law J.S.
