Dear Brother I have taken my pen in hand to inform you that we are all well at present thanks be to God for his mercies; Hoping that this may find you enjoying good health; Dear Brother I being in debt and have my meat to Buy this year I want you if you please to end me what my father will's to me by will send it by litter and you will very much oblige I stand in need of it now If I don't now I never did; I hope after this year I shall get along very well;  I have good land and can make a Plenty if what little I owe was paid if you had such land there as I have here you could get 50 dollars an acre for it. the times is very hard at presents money is very scarce everything very high But cotton our main production it is worth anything but a good price; George Korngay is teaching school now he has twenty scholars at $3.50 for each scholar for the first quarter; and he will have from thirty to thirty to thirty five scholars after crops are done and he says he is not going to teach at $3.50 any more they must give him four dollars or otherwise he will teach no more for us and he can get almost any price because they must have a teacher 2nd page And so nothing more But remains your loving sister till death please write and send that money on as soon as you get this Give my love all inquiring Friends April 21st 1838 Zilpha Chambers Dear Brother and sister and Charity we are a long way apart But I think we will see each other again if our lives will admit of it Dear Brother if I can get such good price here for keeping scholl I think that I shall stay here two or three years  But when I come back I shall look out there for you know what.
